Simon Jordan insists Trent Alexander-Arnold's claim that trophies mean more to Liverpool than Manchester City is 'untrue'.
The Reds defender believes this is down to the different financial situations at each club, with both clubs enjoying huge success.
In an interview with FourFourTwo, Alexander-Arnold said: "Looking back on this era, although they've won more titles than us and have probably been more successful, our trophies will mean more to us and our fanbase because of the situations at both clubs financially."
Alexander-Arnold's comments were made as Liverpool and City prepare to meet at Anfield in a huge Premier League title race clash on Sunday.
City are second and chasing their fourth consecutive crown, whereas Liverpool first and haven't won the the title since 2020.
Such a claim has certainly added to the pre-match spark, and Jordan was not one to agree with such a sentiment.
"Well I think that's untrue," he said about Alexander-Arnold's claim.
"Well that's where he's on very fragile ground, that's where he's on infertile ground, he's not in the right space.
"He can't possibly suggest in any true sense of the word that the value of Manchester City to its fans is any less than the value of [Liverpool to its fans]."
Jim White then claimed Alexander-Arnold's comments strain into Jordan's narrative about City and how they may not be a 'classic club.'
However, Jordan responded by saying: "I may well think that they're a manufactured club, I may well think that Chelsea are too, there's no organic growth about them.
"They've been created by one person's will and one person's money in the instance with Roman Abramovich with Chelsea and the instance of Sheikh Mansour at Manchester City.
"But he's not right and cannot be right and will never be right to suggest that what it means to Man City fans is less than what it means to Liverpool fans."
City star Haaland issued his own response to Alexander-Arnold, saying: "If he wants to say that, okay. I've been here one year and I won the treble.
"It was quite a nice feeling, I don't think he knows exactly this feeling. So yeah, that's what I felt last season, it was quite nice so yeah."
He added: "They can talk as much as they want, or he can talk as much as he wants. I don't know why he does that but I don't mind."
And Haaland's teammate Ruben Dias had his say on the matter too, adding: "I consider myself lucky to have been at two clubs that have always won things for themselves. For their fans, for their players, for their families and that makes me proud.
"We've won a lot in this club and especially last year with the treble. I think it's pretty certain between us, between our fans, how much it meant for all of us and at the end of the day you can only have certain emotions if you actually win stuff.
"A treble is a feeling that you can only know how it feels when you actually do it."

I swear Liverpool act like they’re Grimsby town and not one of the richest clubs in world football who broke the record for a defender and a goalkeeper 😂😂

TAA ‘s comment is deliberately pushed out context, the correct meaning is well documented, that other teams competing with City will have to work harder and smarter to stand a chance against City with all its Catari financial migh, therefore any who manage to deprive City of any title, that title and its achievement will or should be viewed in such context, you Jordan and all other fools can’t get it

City has snatched Titles from Liverpool not once, (Suarez season/Steven Gerrard Slip), not twice ( 100 pts season), not trice (1 pts difference season), but 4 times 😂😂😂😂 If I am Arnold or a Liverpool Supporter I'd definitely be jealous and P!ssed 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣😃

He only meant they haven’t been winning any titles so winning a title will now mean more to their fans because of the drought . He’s not saying it means less to City . It’s just that City have won most trophies so the club is used to winning , of course it still means a lot . But it would just mean more to a club that has won much less trophies . Nothing wrong with that statement . He wasn’t insulting any clubs just saying the feeling would be better for a club that hasn’t won much over the past few years . Nothing wrong with that .
