On June 17 , the Portuguese Football Federation announced that Jota's parents would watch Portugal's first group-stage match of the FIFA World Cup against Congo DR.

According to reports, Jota's parents, Joaquim Silva and Isabel Silva, arrived in Houston today at the invitation of the Portuguese Football Federation to watch the opening match of Group K of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
On Tuesday, they were received by Pedro Proença, the president of the Portuguese Football Federation, and met with Margarida Barroso Lopes, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, and Francisco Duarte Lopes, Ambassador of Portugal to the United States.
