Jurgen Klopp unsure how severe Roberto Firmino's eye injury is

Jurgen Klopp has revealed Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino is 'not okay at the moment' after the Brazilian forward was forced  off after being poked in the eye during the win over Tottenham.

The striker was running down the right channel during the second-half when Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen poked him in the eye as they tussled for the ball.

Firmino stayed down and received on-field treatment before being withdrawn by Klopp and replaced by Jordan Henderson with around 20 minutes to go at Wembley.

The injury will be of concern to Klopp with Liverpool now facing a daunting run of fixtures, starting with Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Klopp said after the game: 'We don't know exactly in the moment.

'It's something with his eye. I only saw the situation from 60 yards away. For sure in the moment it's not comfortable for him.

'He's not okay really at the moment. We need to see how that will work. Life is never perfect.'

Firmino's injury was the only negative to come from Saturday lunchtime's 2-1 win over Spurs that ensured Liverpool's perfect start to the season remained intact.

Georginio Wijnaldum put the Reds ahead after Michel Vorm failed to deal with a corner properly and the Dutchman's header back towards goal crossed the line.

Firmino doubled Liverpool's lead early in the second-half as he capitalised on another misjudgement from Vorm before lashing the ball into the net. Erik Lamela pulled one back for the hosts but it was too little too late.
