Cristiano Ronaldo scored for the fourth Serie A home game in succession as Juventus claimed a 2-1 victory over Bologna on Saturday despite some late drama.

The Portugal forward has netted in all of Juve's home league fixtures this season and opened the scoring with a typically clinical finish.

Bologna levelled with a sumptuous half-volley from full-back Danilo before Miralem Pjanic restored Juve's advantage after some poor defending by the visitors.

Late in the game, the visitors had a penalty appeal for handball against Matthijs de Ligt turned down and hit the crossbar, while Gianluigi Buffon made a fine late save as Juve moved four points clear at the top of the table.

Rabiot tries to turn in the box, but loses out to Mbaye and Soriano, only for the two defenders to trip over each other. Alex Sandro tees up Ronaldo, but the ball is blocked into the path of Pjanic. He holds his composure to slot his effort into the left bottom corner.

DOUBLE SAVE! Skorupski keeps Bologna in the game with a brilliant double save. Ronaldo releases Alex Sandro down the left flank and he tees up Higuain in the left inside channel. The Argentine strikes low towards the left bottom corner, but Skorupski makes the low save. The ball rebounds towards Higuain, only to be denied by the onrushing Bologna keeper once more.

91' Buffon makes insane close-range save

OFF THE BAR AND SAVE! Santander is denied twice in the space of seconds. Orsolini puts the ball on the money for the striker, but he hits the bar with his close-range header. The rebound bounces and out towards the forward again. He goes for an overhead kick on this occasion, only to see Buffon produce a brilliant stop to turn his effort over. What a moment for Juve hold out for the win.
