Juventus banish '8 first-team players' as 3 players are told to 'find new clubs'

Juventus have sensationally told eight first-team players including Federico Chiesa and Wojciech Szczesny to leave the club, according to reports.

New head coach Thiago Motta is overseeing a ruthless clear-out of his squad as he tries to overhaul a team that has struggled in recent seasons both on and off the pitch.

Juventus have failed to win the Serie A title during the last four seasons having previously done so for nine consecutive Italian top-flight campaigns and replaced Massimiliano Allegri with Motta at the start of the summer.

Chiesa is one of eight players that Juventus are desperate to sell during the open transfer window as the club look to raise funds that can then be put towards bringing in newer recruits, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

Former Arsenal and long-term Juventus goalkeeper Szczesny will be replaced by a new shot-stopper and joins two other former Premier League players that look set to leave Turin.

Ex-Leeds midfielder Weston McKennie and one-time Liverpool loanee Arthur Melo are also being told to look for new teams to join.

Juventus also want to secure permanent departures for Mattia De Sciglio, Daniele Rugani, Filip Kostic and Hans Nicolussi-Caviglia.

'They are out of the project and they have to find new club', said Motta during a press conference after a 2-2 pre-season friendly against Brest.

'We are convinced this is the best decision possible', he added as Juventus marked themselves open to do business with other clubs.

Chiesa is arguably the most high-profile player on the list to be told his career at the Old Lady is over, given he was previously a poster boy for the team when he burst onto the scene of Italian football.

The 26-year-old's signing was hailed by Juventus fans when he joined from Fiorentina four-years ago, but has endured a frustrating time at the club that has largely been affected by injuries.

Juventus are determined to sell him this summer rather than lose him on a free transfer next year when his contract runs out.

Motta added: 'Yes, Chiesa's absence is related to the market. This is both for Federico and the others who remained in Turin with the exception of Miretti who is injured.

'We made it clear after speaking with all the lads. We have strong players, accustomed to continuity.

'At this moment the club is looking for solutions elsewhere, they must find them as soon as possible for everyone's sake.'

Szczesny replaced Gianluigi Buffon as Juventus' starting goalkeeper and has made 252 appearances for the club.

McKennie had been linked with a move to Aston Villa, as part of the move which saw Douglas Luiz head the other way.

However, Unai Emery's side instead received Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenchea as part of the move.

Former Liverpool loanee Arthur had an improved year on loan with Fiorentina in the last campaign, having made only just one appearances for the Reds in 2022-23.

Juventus meanwhile have also signed Khephren Thuram from Lille and Juan Cabal from Verona this summer.

They are also reportedly in the race for former Manchester United target Jean-Clair Todibo.
