In the 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 16 match between England and Mexico, Kane scored a penalty in the second half and then conceded one, becoming the first player in FIFA World Cup history to both score and concede a penalty in a single match since records began.

In the match against Mexico, Kane scored a 60th-minute penalty created by Gordon, helping England take a 3-1 lead.

Less than 10 minutes later, Kane conceded a penalty for a foul on Gutiérrez in the box, reducing England's lead to just one goal.

Kane became the first player since 1966 to both score and concede a penalty in a single FIFA World Cup match.
