HARRY KANE was mocked by Brentford fans who sung "you let your country down" during their clash with Tottenham in the Premier League on Saturday.
Spurs' trip to west London marked the return of domestic football following the break for the World Cup.
And it was Kane's first appearance since missing a penalty in England's quarter-final defeat to France.
The Three Lions skipper dispatched his first spot kick against the defending champions, before he fired a second over the top late on in the game.
Gareth Southgate's men went on to lose the match 2-1 as France progressed and went on to lose on penalties to Argentina in the final.
Meanwhile, Kane was looking to put that moment behind him as he re-focused his attention towards Spurs.
But Brentford supporters cruelly refused to let him forget his penalty heartbreak as they sung "you let your country down" at him during the first half.
The Spurs faithful responded by chanting "he's one of our own".
And they then took aim at Brentford's talismanic striker Ivan Toney - who is currently at the centre of a match-betting probe.
The travelling Tottenham contingent could be heard singing "Toney, what's the odds?" and "You're getting sacked in the morning".
Both Toney and Kane scored in the match - with Brentford going 2-0 up before the Spurs man pulled one back for Antonio Conte's side.
And the Lilywhites then completed the comeback when Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg struck in the 71st minute.
Tottenham returned from the World Cup break in fourth place, three points above Manchester United but eight adrift of table toppers Arsenal.

He is a big part of why england has any success,Fans saying such things is counter productive but what is expected from a people who get more angry about a childs game then a nations politics🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️those english fans should be ashamed & their actions should not be condoned💡
