Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has claimed he would have felt ashamed' had his performances in training been criticised publicly, as he urged Jadon Sancho to manager Erik ten Hag.
Sancho is currently being kept away from the first team as he continues his stand-off with Ten Hag amid his refusal to apologise for his public comments against his manager.
The £73million winger was exiled from United training after claiming on social media that he had been a 'scapegoat' and effectively calling Ten Hag a liar following defeat at Arsenal.
He has reportedly been barred from using senior squad facilities including the dining room
Sancho, who joined from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, has made just three sub appearances for United this season, but has not featured in the squad since his outburst.
Keane, speaking on Stick to Football, claimed Sancho would be able to resume his Man United career if he was to apologise to Ten Hag.
The former Red Devils captain insisted that the Man United dressing room would move on from the incident 'very quickly'.
‘If you have got questions marks over this player, he is not training properly and he does turn around and show some sort of humility and says maybe I got it wrong, you can move on very quickly,' Keane said.
‘We’ve been in dressing rooms where players have come in and said: “Sorry lads I have made a mistake” and it is forgotten about very quickly.
‘Football dressing rooms are a strange dynamic. If a player shows they care and they are human, it’s fine, we move on quickly.’
The stand-off began following Man United's defeat against Arsenal when Ten Hag said 'Jadon, on his performances in training we did not select him,' after being asked why Sancho had not been selected for the fixture.
Sancho was furious with Ten Hag's comments and took to social media to say: 'Please don't believe everything you read! I will not allow people to say things that are completely untrue. I have conducted myself in training very well this week.
'I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won't go into, I've been a scapegoat for a long time which isn't fair!
'All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to the team. I respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and I am grateful to do so, which I know every week is a challenge. I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what!'
Keane claimed he would be embarrassed had a manager criticised his performances in training, either to him personally or through comments in the media.
The pundit insisted Ten Hag was within his rights to publicly criticise Sancho's performances in training.
‘My annoyance with Sancho would be if he is not training properly. Whatever it is about his personality, we are all different,' Keane said.
‘I’d be embarrassed, I’d be ashamed of my life if the manager ever came up to me, or even spoke through the media.
‘People say you can’t say stuff about the players through the media, yes you can, you can send messages out to people.'
Ten Hag refused to discuss Sancho's future following Man United's 3-0 Carabao Cup win over Crystal Palace on Tuesday, saying he will never talk about players 'who are not available'.
It was put to Ten Hag that a report in Germany claimed excessive gaming sessions on his Xbox, resulting in limited sleep, is damaging Sancho's career.
Asked if he was aware of Sancho's gaming habits, Ten Hag was quick to shut any questions about Sancho down.
'I don't talk about personal issues and I don't talk about players who are not available,' he said swiftly, before concluding his press conference.

The matter of APOLOGY is a problem to English players especially, I don't know why? if Sancho was to be an African players I think with this behavior of he's, he would have not only be banned from using the facilities of the Senior team but be banned from Football entirely. Imagine, who told ANDRE ONANA to apologise after the Bayern game? nobody!! but he did it willingly to the Club management, staff, Colleagues, Press Media and the football fans all over the world.... This English players believes that the World of Football is theirs and the Press Media is fully behind them to defend always.

I have to text my opinion now that l am learning a lot about this stalemate. The manage has to plan and control his team. The players have to agree to be led. The contract they sign tells the world what, who, how, when, and where. I tried to answer all the above. The player may stray sometime and the manager must be able to correct a situation when it occurs. This stand still is hurtful to all of us fans, players, staff etc. We have to help end it. Jadon, go to your manager and humbly apologize for what went wrong and the part you played. ETH only needs your success and well being. It’s up to you. For him, he will continue to do his duties. You have to do yours too. We are not looking to punish anyone for this matter. Show us what you can do on the field and we will make up our minds about this. I started to lend some understanding for what you did but now l am beginning to lose it. So please step up and render an apology. If can’t see yourself any longer capable of proving you can play, then say goodbye to sorry us.

this small boy called Sancho don't know what he's getting himself into, he will soon become a forgotten player because Coach is like a parent you can't disrespect them and go free, if ETH leave Manchester United today he will still got a job but players get depending on how you perform and your attitude both things are involved here.

The coach has every right, he was asked why, and he gave the reason. I can bet if he didn't give a reason fans would be complaining that the coach didn't use him. When he was getting time off to deal with his personal stuff there were no outburst. Players all over the world who are not performing up to the coaches standards has to sit on the bench or move on they don't stay at the club and cause trouble. I know alot of people blaming Ten Hag only because they are carrying feelings because of Ronaldo's situation but fair is fair. They need to get rid of him January, there's certain things you just don't do.

A lot people are supporting him without thinking about the situation properly..... ETH has been very kind to sancho and even sent him for a special training in the Netherlands. Has anyone else gotten that kind of privilege. For the coach to say you are not training properly, them you are at fault. Everyone is talking as if sancho has done anything special for Manchester united but since the guy came,he hardly dribbles, scores or even assist ...His position was even changed from right wing to left wing so that it could favour him since he is right footed yet he has done nothing.... Maguire and martial might not be on gest of form but they are training hard to correct it....that is why they have not been banned from training..... Sancho had ole, ragnick, carrick and ETH and yet he is flopping....some are comparing him to Anthony and Martial. The thing is all of them can put more effort on the pitch but Anthony and Martial train very well in training. In 10 years from now, sancho will look back and wonder. I hope he doesn't end up like Lingard. Talented but no effort.
