Kevin De Bruyne tipped for MLS move by former teammate Christian Benteke

Christian Benteke has tipped his former Belgium teammate Kevin De Bruyne for a move to one of MLS' LA clubs, with the Man City star out of contract next year.

De Bruyne, 32, is still one of the Premier League's brightest talents but, as noted by DC United's Benteke, he's spent his entire career in Europe since debuting for Genk in 2009.

'He's 32 and he's been around in Europe for many, many years,' Benteke said on MLS' 'Extratime' show. 'I can see him at a team in LA.'

Los Angeles is represented by both LAFC and the LA Galaxy in MLS, with the former winning their first MLS Cup in 2022 behind the likes of Carlos Vela and Gareth Bale.

The Galaxy, meanwhile, are no strangers to stars either as Steven Gerrard and Zlatan Ibrahimovic both spent time there.

Speaking about MLS in general, Benteke said, 'I would describe the league as physical and technical.'

'It's a mix of both because people think, 'Oh yeah, MLS is easy. They don't really care about football or soccer.' Until you play the game, you understand that you will enjoy yourself. But you better be ready, you better respect the league because it's not that easy.'

Benteke himself has experienced MLS since he joined DC United in the summer of 2022.

In his first full season with the club last year, Benteke scored 14 goals and was named an All-Star.

He has six goals thus far this season.

De Bruyne, meanwhile, has struggled with injuries this season, playing just 12 league games for City after hurting his hamstring on the first day of the season.

He signed a two-year extension with the club in 2021 (on top of his existing deal) to keep him in Manchester until 2025.
