Kevin De Bruyne admitted that he now longer owns idol status in his house after Erling Haaland’s arrival at Manchester City.
Haaland, who has 52 goals in all competitions this season, has captured the imagination since a £51million move from Borussia Dortmund last summer.
And De Bruyne revealed that his children have taken more of an interest in the sport over the past year. The eldest, seven-year-old Mason, sports a Haaland haircut.
‘It is not a problem!’ De Bruyne said. ‘Erling is a superstar. All three children have long hair. I see that with the kids at [my son's] school too. They all have hair like that. It's funny.
‘My children have all become interested in football this year. They attend more games. They are also starting to play football themselves.
‘My eldest in particular is starting to realise a little more what is going on. He wants to come to games more. He came to see Bayern [in the Champions League quarter finals]. He is beginning to experience and enjoy it more.’
City are looking to go one better in the Champions League than they did two seasons ago, when losing the final against Chelsea. De Bruyne joked that should they prevail over Inter and clinch a Treble, some critics would ask why they weren’t able to complete the Quadruple.
‘I don't look at what happened two years ago with bad feelings,’ he added. ‘If we win, some people will say why didn’t we win against Southampton in the League Cup – that’s the way it goes.
‘I think that we are getting a bit used to the success that we are experiencing now. Maybe that's a bit of a pity. But I think, eventually when my career is over, there will be times when I look back on things that have been accomplished.
‘I’ve been here eight years and it’s been incredible. Could I come here and think about all the amount of games and trophies we would win in eight years? Probably not.’

I am a Man-U fan, but I highly appreciate Man-City for their ongoing hard work.
