Kilman insists he was 'NOT surprised' by how easily Wolves dismantled Liverpool

Max Kilman delivered a damning verdict on Liverpool's dismal form by saying he was not surprised that Wolves beat them 3-0.

The defender, who had a hand in the second goal, scored by Craig Dawson — and was central to his side's resistance for the rest of the game — was praising the Wolves revival under manager Julen Lopetegui.

But the fact that he was not in the least shocked that a team which came close to securing an unprecedented quadruple last season should take such a mauling tells another story, as far as Merseyside is concerned.

'No, I am not surprised,' said Kilman when asked whether he had been taken aback by how comfortably his team won.

'It was difficult and we started off really well. The first two goals helped us push on, we defended really well in the second half and it was topped off with the third from Ruben Neves.'

The goal from Neves meant it was the first time for nearly a year that Wolves had scored three times in a match, a period that includes cup games against lower league sides Preston and Gillingham.

And defeat ended a Liverpool run of 11 straight league wins over Wolves, a dominance over one club that they have only exceeded twice in their history. The win takes Wolves two points clear of the relegation zone, and they are now looking up after one defeat in their last four games.

Kilman said: 'It could be a defining game but look at the matches we have coming up. We have some tough ones. We will be ready for Southampton away on Saturday. They are fighting at the bottom so it is a great challenge.'
