Klopp admits he almost forgot to congratulate the team after Norwich win

Jurgen Klopp has highlighted the relentless pursuit of perfection at Liverpool by speaking about his dressing room words after the 1-0 win at Norwich.

Sadio Mane sealed yet another victory for the Reds as the charge towards the Premier League title continues.

And the boss discussed his address to the players in the aftermath of the game - seemingly almost forgetting to congratulate them on the three points.

Klopp told Match of the Day: "It's very positive but it's a football game. Afterwards, I think I spoke to the boys in the dressing room for three or four minutes - and sometimes I have to remind myself to say 'congratulations'.

"I'm still probably used to that [losing]. I lost probably more often than I should have. We'll find some words then.

"It's incredible. The character of the boys and the mentality of the group.

"If you would have asked me throughout my career that we would have 76 points now and what would I be doing: I thought I would be on the bus busy already drinking - but it doesn't feel at all like this until it's done.

"But I don't know why it is like this. We don't fly, we just work. That's the only explanation I can give."

On the message to his team, Klopp added: "We do the same things. We adapt to the opponent and we prepare for the games. [On Saturday] we had a long meeting.

"You would think when the manager tells you how good [team] number 20 is in the league that the players say, 'yes, you said that last time'. But these boys really listen. I don't lie. If they are not good, I tell them.

"We brought on the quality of Sadio [Mane] and Fabinho and Milly [James Milner]. That must make a difference honestly.

"I forgot VAR for a second and celebrated the goal and then remembered. It changes a little bit but in the end we want to have the right decisions. In this situation it's football and there is not enough contact.

"We know that we are in a very good position but why should we think about something which is not safe yet? We have enough time afterwards hopefully."
