Klopp apologises for foul-mouthed rant at translator

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has apologised to translator he publicly berated as being “s***” prior to his side's 2-0 Champions League victory over Red Bull Salzburg.

On speaking to the media soon after Liverpool's game in Austria, Klopp was quick to say sorry for what he described as his “stupid” outburst.

Speaking in German, the Mirror report that he said: “Before we start I'd like to apologise for yesterday.

“I know that it was unfair and even more so as it happened in public.

“It was completely stupid. I didn't like the way my answer was translated, but the way I addressed it was stupid.

“I should have done better and I'm sorry.”

Klopp then shook the translator's hand, before saying: “Now in English” and bursting into laughter.

The Liverpool manager's original remarks on Monday had also been in German, when he said: “It's s*** when next to the translator sits a coach who speaks German.

“The question was if the Champions League title from the last year helps us because we have always delivered in situations like this.

“He [Henderson] doesn't talk about going easy in this game. We are aware of this challenge. He is speaking about all this normal stuff. You should really listen. Otherwise, I can do it by myself. It's not too difficult.”
