Jurgen Klopp believes that returning midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain can be like a 'new signing' for Liverpool this season.
Liverpool are yet to make any new signings in the summer window, but the manager is adamant the 25-year-old can save him money in the market.
Oxlade-Chamberlain was out for a year after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his knee but returned at the end of last season.
He made just two substitute appearances but has played a full part in pre-season so far.
And Klopp is backing him to make a big impact at Anfield in 2019-20.
'It's up to Alex,' he told the Liverpool Echo. 'Life can sometimes be about luck, and has had a really unlucky time with the injury.
'Two seasons ago, when he got injured, he was in the shape of his life, looking so positive.
'I'm so happy with how it looks at the moment, but of course we are going to have to see.
'But Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain... come on. Fit... if that's not a new signing, then I don't know.'
The England international has started all four of the Reds' pre-season games so far, including the two defeats so far on their USA tour.
He is in line to play against Sporting Lisbon in New York on Wednesday night.

We're not even linked to anyone, if they don't want to sign a new player, they can bring back Coutinho. Harry Wilson might not really fit the bill now. He can come in when necessary but for now we need a world class creative midfielder.

I don't think we are going to see the same form he showed before his injury any time soon. Plus the likely guy to step up Keita is injury prone. Klopp should just buy a creative midfielder to unlock deep lying defense
Coutinho is the best alternative here. Let Liverpool do whatever it takes to get him back. Had he been on the team we had last season, we should have beaten City to the EPL title by turning those draws into a few wins.

Salah,Mane and Firmino are not that good with spot kicks.

That is, if he is fit !!!!!! Can't believe klopp didn't sign in Nebir Fekir for the bargain price he went for to Sevilla !!! Klopp is ot thinking of injuries should it happened. Ww k ow well we dropped points continuously last season EPL, until City Mancity closed the gap and went 1 point ahead till they won the tittle!!!!! Why???? Cause we had I injury crisis during that time & Ox was another great loss for LFC, as an injury player himself. Before Ox can re adapt with the Liverpool system of play ( with the last 2 signing last season, e.g Allison & Vandijk, fabinho, keita, andike of Origi, etc..., its a matter of time!!!! We needed 2 new signing at least, 1 midfield & 1 defender, with Loveren departing etc..especially, If we want to compete with man City again and dreaming of the EPL. Remember EPL GOES UP TO 38 GAMES !!!!! MAN CITY HAVE SO MA Y QUALITIES OF BACK UP PLAYERS in the event of injuries. Hope klopp realises this. He cannot simply said he is happy with the players he has !!!! It's not just City, now we also have to expect other teams such as Chelsea, Arsenal, Man UTD, etc all coming coming back as improved team!!!!! Last year we were lucky with so many draws and narrow score win 1-0..Luck cannot be on ur side always !!! Klopp cannot kee cannot keep saving the LIVERPOOL BOARD OF DIRECTORS MONEY!!!!! There are plenty of money floating, with runners up of EPL, UCL CHAMPION, UCL QUALIFICATION, INDIVIDUAL PLAYERS AWARD ETC..., spending on another 2 players wouldn't have harmed, it would ha e increased our chance to win the EPL !!!!!
