Liverpool have had an incredible 2022/23 season, even if the final week of it didn’t go how the Reds would have wanted. They lost out on the Premier League title by one point on the final day of the season and also fell in the Champions League final, losing 1-0 to Real Madrid.
Despite that defeat in Paris, Liverpool will have an open top bus parade through the centre of the city on Sunday afternoon to celebrate their FA Cup and League Cup successes.
Jurgen Klopp explained why this parade is going ahead after such a crushing defeat, stating: “Tomorrow we will celebrate the season. After a night’s sleep and another talk or speech from me, the boys will realise how special it was what they did. Even if nobody on this planet would understand why we have a parade tomorrow, we still will do it. I really hope everyone has the chance to get to Liverpool and celebrate with us a fantastic season that didn’t end as we wanted. But that’s facts. The club is in a good moment and we will go again.”
The coach continued: “These boys played an outstanding season, the two competitions we couldn’t win we didn’t win due to the smallest possible margin, one point and 1-0. Manchester City was one point better and Real Madrid was one goal.”
What time is Liverpool’s open top bus parade?
The parade will begin at 16:00 BST, lasting for approximately two hours. It’ll set off from Allerton Maze in the south of Liverpool and finish at The Strand.
There will be many road closures, so fans who live in the centre of Liverpool are advised to watch the parade from a location near their home. It’ll be possible to follow the progress of the bus via the Liverpool website, so that fans can know when to make their way to the part of the route closest to them.
