Jurgen Klopp has backed Sheffield United to stay in the Premier League after his Liverpool side squeezed out a hard-fought 1-0 win at Bramall Lane on Saturday .

Speaking after the game, Klopp said he expects to return to Bramall Lane next term after admitting how impressed he was with Chris Wilder's expansive United side.

The Liverpool manager likened Wilder's men to the Mainz side he took up to the Bundesliga during the first managerial post of his career.

“I am very impressed with Sheffield United," said Klopp. "The way they play, the way they fight. I was manager of Mainz and when any team came to us nobody could stop us enjoying the ride.

“We went 1-0 up and the stadium was still there. They have a proper basis to be a really uncomfortable opponent especially here, that will be for sure.

“They have really good set-pieces and good around throw-ins. Plenty of good little things.

“The relationship between manager and players is clearly good. Chris is quite animated. I thought I was loud but he's really loud and the boys listen. They go for it, that was really impressive.

“It's easier to enjoy that when we've won again but I'm sure we will come here again.”
