Kovac: Dortmund's last-minute loan of Nwaneri will help immediately

Kovac attended the Bundesliga pre-match press conference ahead of Borussia Dortmund's match against Hoffenheim.

Kovac was particularly impressed by the last-minute loan of winger Nwaneri. "This transfer alone dragged on until the early hours of the morning," the 54-year-old coach said about the England U21 international. Nwaneri joined from Arsenal, replacing the long-term injured new signing Konstantelias, who suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Borussia Dortmund had previously shown interest in Nwaneri. "We had been considering him in recent weeks and months, and last season too. It didn't happen then, but it did this time," Kovac explained. He believes that after familiarizing himself with Borussia Dortmund's requirements both in and out of possession, the young player is already capable of "helping immediately." It was also clear in training that he "knows how to handle the ball."

Kovac did not specify whether Nwaneri would start directly in Sinsheim on Saturday.
