Former Bayern Munich manager Niko Kovac was in attendance as Everton beat Chelsea 3-1 at Goodison Park on Saturday.

Kovac has been out of work since his departure from Bayern last month. He was in the director's box along with his entourage but was simply in attendance to watch the game.

The 48-year-old has been linked with the managerial vacancy at Everton following the dismissal of Marco Silva this week.

Silva watched on as Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored a brace for Everton, with Richarlison also scoring, while Mateo Kovacic found the net for Chelsea.

Duncan Ferguson was placed in temporary charge for the game against Chelsea, but Everton are looking to make a permanent appointment quickly.

Shanghai SIPG manager Vitor Pereira has also been linked with the Everton job.

Last season Kovac won the Bundesliga title with Bayern in addition to the DFB-Pokal, but disappointing results this season cost him his job.

Kovac previously gained experience in charge of Eintracht Frankfurt and the Croatia national team.
