LIKE A MODEL: Martens - 'Barca tulip' who set to fulfil Cruyff's World Cup dream

Hello, everyone! Welcome to All Football column LIKE A MODEL! The footballer of this week that we choose is Barca and Netherlands star Lieke Martens.

Lieke Elisabeth Petronella Martens is a Dutch footballer who plays for FC Barcelona in the Primera Division. She is a member of the Netherlands national football team. In October 2017, she was named FIFA Women's Player of The Year.

In July 2017 Martens signed for FC Barcelona.[9] She made her debut for the club as a substitute in a 9–0 win against Zaragoza CCF. She scored her first goal in a 10–0 win over Santa Teresa.

Martens helped FC Barcelona reach the final of the UEFA Women’s Champions League In her second season. They lost the final 4–1 against Olympique Lyonnais on the 18th May in Budapest.

Martens scored three goals in The Netherlands victorious 2017 UEFA Women's Euro campaign. For her performances in the tournament, Martens was included in the 2017 UEFA Team of the Tournament and won the Bronze Boot (third top scorer) and the Golden Ball (best player of the tournament). And now, she is leading the Netherlands squad for 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France 

Martens has performed a Cruyff Turn in the first minute of the Oranje’s opening World Cup game.

Martens, like Cruyff, is a once-in-a-lifetime player, one capable of inspiring the next generation of Dutch talent.

She is carrying the hopes of a nation on her shoulders this summer, just as Cruyff was burdened with expectation in 1974.

He was Netherlands’ standout player in West Germany, inspiring them to the final as the centrepiece of their Total Football approach.

Martens will be hoping to go one better and add a World Cup to the European Championship the Dutch won in 2017.
