Some Lazio fans were seen showing off fascist salutes as they walked through Glasgow City Centre on Thursday.

The Italian side's fans arrived in Scotland in great numbers ahead of the Europa League clash with Celtic at Parkhead.

Walking down Buchanan Street in the centre of Glasgow, dozens of supporters were captured on film making the abhorrent salutes in front of horrified shoppers.

They also sang chants as they raised their right arms in what is widely recognised as a fascist salute.

The video, shared by Twitter user Ravz, soon gained attention with more than 400 retweets bringing attention to the behaviour of the visiting fans.

He wrote: 'Hitler youth aka Lazio fans invading Glasgow @EuropaLeague'

Lazio had pleaded with supporters ahead of the trip not to bring further shame on the club by doing the fascist salute.

The video soon gained attention online and is set to bring further punishment from UEFA

The Italian side face further punishment from UEFA having already found themselves on their final warning after 20 of their fans made the gesture during their last game in the Europa League against Rennes.

As punishment for the gestures during the Rennes match, Lazio's Curva Nord will be closed when Celtic head out to Rome in the coming weeks.

Lazio chief Nicolo D'Angelo's plea to supporters appears to have been ignored with the latest video likely to bring even more punishment on the side.

Ahead of the visit to Glasgow, he said: 'We have given lots of information to our supporters. We couldn't be more clear.

'Unfortunately, we still have a minority of fans who believe it's acceptable to give the Roman Salute and to make racist comments.

'This is unacceptable and no longer tolerable. We want there to be a healthy relationship with the fans, not this relationship, which has been spoiled for so many years.'

Lazio go into the game third in the group with Celtic leading following a strong start to the campaign against Rennes and Cluj.
