League-winning Nagelsmann has influential support among the Chelsea hierarchy

Julian Nagelsmann has 'influential support' within the Chelsea hierarchy to become the club's next permanent manager, according to reports.

Julian Nagelsmann, who's just 35, is one of the coaches heavily linked with the vacant position at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea currently have Frank Lampard in place as caretaker boss until the end of the season, but they still need to appoint a long-term successor to Graham Potter.

The Daily Mail claims that there is now some influential support among the Chelsea board for Nagelsmann.

It is understood that Nagelsmann, along with Luis Enrique, are the two leading candidates to become the manager next season.

The report says the Blues have spoken with both already.

For someone in his mid-thirties, Nagelsmann already has a lot of managerial experience under his belt.

The German boss is currently out of work right now and available, but he's previously coached Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim.

His time with Germany heavyweights Bayern was cut short last month. Incidentally, Thomas Tuchel has been the man to replace him in the manager's dugout at the Allianz Arena.

However, Nagelsmann is a league-winning manager after guiding his Bayern side to the Bundesliga title last season.

Foot Mercato claimed last month that Chelsea technical director Christopher Vivell is pushing for the club to appoint Nagelsmann, who he worked with at Leipzig.

It sounds like he might not be the only one at Chelsea getting behind this idea, too.

Barring a sensational run of results in the final chunk of the season, Chelsea will enter next year without any European fotball.

We expect the next permanent boss to be under serious pressure to get much more from this squad of players.
