Leeds United are in talks with Brentford technical director Lee Dykes about becoming their new sporting director.

Dykes, 39, who has also been considered by Tottenham, would succeed Victor Orta.

Orta has taken up the same position at Sevilla, having left Leeds in May after facing heavy criticism following the club's disappointing run of form under Javi Gracia.

Gracia also left the club, with Sam Allardyce being brought in on a short-term basis but Leeds still ended up being relegated to the Championship.

Orta has signed a three-year contract with Sevilla as he returns to the club having previously been their technical secretary from 2006 to 2013.

Dykes has been with The Bees for four years, joining from Bury in the summer of 2019 to head up the recruitment department before becoming technical director.

Dykes was sporting director at Bury in 2018/19, the season in which the Greater Manchester side won promotion from Sky Bet League Two.

He had previously been at Carlisle United, where he was assistant manager and Head of First Team Recruitment.

Leeds are closing on the £200,000 signing of 16-year-old Aberdeen striker Lewis Pirie who is due to have a medical today.

Midfielder Marc Roca is joining Real Betis who also want Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.
