Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl is a possible target for relegation-threatened Leicester should Ruud van Nistelrooy leave in the summer.
Leicester are second from bottom in the Premier League, 12 points adrift of safety with eight games remaining, and look destined for an immediate return to the Championship.
Van Nistelrooy signed until June 2027 when he replaced Steve Cooper last November but Leicester have declined under the Dutchman, losing 14 of their past 15 league fixtures.
Asked about his future last month, Van Nistelrooy said: ‘I signed a contract for two more years after this one. I was aware when I arrived what the challenge was and how difficult it could be. I was aware of that and committed to that future.’
But should he and Leicester part ways, Mail Sport understands Rohl would be prominent in the club’s thoughts. The German has done a fine job at Wednesday, steering them to safety last season in his first senior role.
This term, the 35-year-old has kept the Owls well clear of trouble and in with an outside chance of the play-offs.
Rohl, who is believed to have a significant compensation clause in his contract, impressed Foxes recruitment chief Martyn Glover when both were working at Southampton.
He would be a contender for the Saints role, too, if Ivan Juric leaves in the summer.

Ruud Van Nistelrooy is worse than the Coach Leicester City let go (Steve Cooper). Some decisions made hastily can be very bad. How can you (RVN) lose 14 games out of 15 games....that's 42 points lost. So the former Coach gained Like 14 to 16points in 15 league games while RVN game 1 or 3 points in 15 games.....so RVN was a scam in MAN U as interim... ...God saved Man U for not retaining RVN...Man U will be fighting relegation by now. yeye coach in RVN
