Chelsea's Levi Colwill appeared to clash with a fan at Stamford Bridge following their Premier League defeat by Tottenham on Saturday night.
The defender, 23, was pictured reacting to a home supporter after the final whistle blew on a surprise 2-0 loss, which saw goalkeeper Mike Penders score an own goal and Cole Palmer sent off.
A video online shows Colwill – who played all 90 minutes – walking over to the West Stand appearing to try to placate angry supporters as the ground empties, and applauds them as a fan shouts: 'Colwill don't you f****** clap. You can't clap after that.'
Colwill then walks down the touchline and away towards the tunnel, accompanied by substitute Danny Welbeck.
Fans on Chelsea Fan TV condemned Colwill in a video recorded outside the ground afterwards.
'Colwill going over to the West Stand...does that not tell you a lot about the personality of this current crop?' said one supporter.
'He went over to the West Stand, someone was moaning, he went over and saying what are you moaning about? For me, if you're going to put up a performance the way you did tonight, don t give anything back to what the fans are saying to you.'
A fellow fan agreed, saying: 'How dare you as a player have the cheek to have a pop at the fans? We have every right to be angry, every right to be frustrated and have every right to boo.
'Because that was a pitiful performance against a team we should be beating week in, week out - a guaranteed six points.
'You do not got and lose to Spurs. What part of that do you not understand? That's a disgrace what Colwill did, and some people have the cheek to tell me he should be Chelsea captain? Get in the bin. After that today, no chance.'
Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso admitted his side were second best, saying: ‘We all take the blame for the result and for the performance,' he said. 'Today we were not at our best. I felt that in the second half, the game was even and could have gone either way. Once we conceded that first goal, and then with the red card, it was difficult.'
'We can do better. It's one to reflect after this big game that it was against a good opponent. And the performance, it's one to improve.'

I don't see coach Alonso winning any big team this season with his style of play 5 defenders 2 defensive midfielders 1 play maker 2 strikers until he changes his pattern and formation it will be difficult winning any big team
