Lille 5-1 PSG: French Champions' title party postponed with crushing defeat

On a night when a draw would have clinched them the Ligue 1 title, Paris Saint-Germain were demolished 5-1 at Lille.

Meunier did well to dribble into the box and find the Frenchman in space, but the latter made his run just a second too early.

Ikone whipped in a cross that was just a little too tall for Xeka... but as it fell it bounced off of Meunier's outstretched leg and rolled into the back of the net!

Mbappe lofted the ball over his marker then lofted it again, this time to Bernat who had made a run at the far post and the latter slots it home to get the visitors back into the match! Solid finish, but Mbappe definitely made that goal.

Thiago Silva seems to have picked up a problem and will be replaced by Kehrer for PSG's first substitution.

24' Meunier is replaced by Diaby

Meunier's race is indeed done as he's replaced by Diaby. Unfortunate the former will not have a chance to redeem himself after the early own goal.

36' Red Card! Bernat sent off

Pepe had the better of Bernat in a footrace and the PSG man has been sent off! There didn't appear to be too much contact though so this one may be overturned.

Pepe scores to give Lille their goal advantage back! He broke through the backline of PSG and was found in stride by Ikone which turned into a footrace which the forward was always going to win.

Bamba curled a powerful left-footed shot that beat Areola near-post! He was picked out with a smart pass from Ikone and the winger hammered the finish home!

Gabriel outjumped Kehrer from the free-kick that Verratti conceded, and the Lille man headed his header down and into the bottom-right corner to give his side a three-goal lead!

84' GOAL! Lille 5-1 PSG (Fonte)

Pepe whipped an outswinger into the path of Jose Fonte who was unmarked and charging, and then powered his header past a stranded Areola!

Match Report

On a night when nothing seemed to go to plan for his side, PSG head coach Thomas Tuchel saw Thomas Meunier put through his own net to give Lille the lead before Bernat pulled the visitors level.

The wing-back was then shown a straight red card for a foul on Nicolas Pepe, Meunier and captain Thiago Silva having already withdrawn due to injuries.

Pepe struck six minutes after half-time and further goals from Jonathan Bamba, Gabriel and Jose Fonte rubbed salt in the wounds of PSG, who failed to adjust to their man disadvantage.
