Victor Lindelöf has confirmed he will leave Manchester United this summer upon the expiry of his contract. In a farewell interview with the club’s official channel, the Swedish defender expressed his gratitude and love for the club and its fans.

Despite departing as a player, Lindelöf made it clear:

“I’ll always be a Manchester United fan.”

After United’s 2–0 win over Aston Villa on the final day of the Premier League season, the club officially announced that Lindelöf, along with Christian Eriksen and Jonny Evans, would not be offered new contracts.

Lindelöf spent eight seasons at Old Trafford, making 284 appearances and helping the team win the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.

Now 30, Lindelöf is preparing for the next chapter in his career, but before that, he took time to reflect on his journey at United and what it meant to wear the famous red shirt.

He described his final appearance at Old Trafford as the perfect farewell:

“A perfect ending,” he told MUTV. “A clean sheet and a win—such a great way to sign off.”

“Being able to celebrate on the pitch with my family afterward made it even more special. I really couldn’t have asked for a better goodbye.”

While acknowledging that not every season was smooth, Lindelöf praised the fans for always standing by the team:

“Yes, I’m proud of myself,” he said. “There were a lot of ups and downs.”

“But it’s been an honor to represent this club for eight years—it truly was a dream come true.”

Asked about his most memorable moment, Lindelöf couldn’t name just one, but highlighted the 2023/24 FA Cup final win over Manchester City as a standout:

“Winning the FA Cup was a great moment,” he said. “It’s such a historic competition, and to lift the trophy was amazing.”

Trophies aside, what Lindelöf cherishes most is the emotional bond with the fans:

“I’ve made so many great memories here,” he added. “Just looking at the Stretford End—I know I’ll miss it dearly.”

“The fans have always been with us, no matter the result. They show up every week, supporting us and singing their hearts out.”

“I just want to say thank you—for welcoming me.”

Though his next destination remains unknown, Lindelöf made one thing clear:

“I’m leaving as a player, but I’ll always be a United fan,” he said.

“I wish my teammates and everyone at the club the very best. Hopefully, next season will be a bit better than this one.”

“I believe it will be.”
