Lineker makes bold Dybala transfer prediction - instantly comes true

Gary Lineker predicted Paulo Dybala will not sign for Tottenham on deadline day - and moments later the transfer was cancelled.

Spurs and Manchester United have been strongly linked with a move for the Juventus forward, who has been told he is not in Maurizio Sarri's plans in Turin.

Manchester United were favourites to land the striker but the two parties couldn't come to an agreement on wages, prompting the Red Devils to look elsewhere.

Tottenham meanwhile made a £62million bid for the Argentine, which was accepted.

The two clubs were locked in talks over the switch and a meeting took place this deadline day to thrash out the finer details.

Dybala still needed to complete his medical, meaning the deal was far from being finalised.

And former Spurs man Lineker wasn't convinced anything would come of it.

The Match of the Day host took to Twitter to post his thoughts on the situation, writing: "Here's a wild guess: Dybala won't happen."

And just like that, moments later, the deal was cancelled.

Dybala isn't the only player Spurs have been monitoring this deadline day, with the north London club strongly linked with a moves for Ryan Sessegnon and Giovani Lo Celso.

The deal for the former is pretty much wrapped up, with the young left-winger signing from Fulham for £30million, including add-ons, and Josh Onomah.

The Lo Celso transfer is a little more complicated, with talks still ongoing between Tottenham and Real Betis over a £55million transfer for the Argentine.
