Liverpool surrendered a three-goal only to prevail 4-3 against a resolute Red Bull Salzburg as Jurgen Klopp's side kick-started their defence of the Champions League in chaotic fashion at Anfield.
Match Report
Salzburg fought back from three goals down at Anfield but Mohamed Salah had the final say in a 4-3 win for Liverpool.
Mohamed Salah stuck twice as holders Liverpool survived a major Champions League scare to defeat Salzburg 4-3 at Anfield.
Sadio Mane, Andrew Robertson and Salah goals had seemingly put Jurgen Klopp's side in complete control in what was their first European game on home soil since triumphing in last season's competition.
They were left stunned, however, when the visitors responded via goals from Hwang Hee-chan, Takumi Minamino and substitute Erling Haaland.
But Salah's seventh goal of the campaign with 21 minutes remaining got the Reds out of jail as they got up and running in Group E.

• Made it hard for ourselves. • Clean sheets are overrated. • Missed Joel Matip tonight. • Salah is a King. • Sadio Manè is world class. • Lovley hat-trick of assists from Firmino. • So happy for Robertson. • Credit to Red Bull Salzburg. Leicester City at Anfield. next.

what's Henderson doing to us, I don't know what Klopp saw in that guy. he was responsible for the first goal we conceded

Very imp win but not the performance we have expected. Really sloppy defence giving the balls away cheaply and conceding so poorly that we don't see often. The front three were so brilliant today but the defence was poor. Hoping to work upon on it in coming games. YNWA

I thought Klopp was the most entertaining couch in the game until I saw Salzberg's couch... What a celebration.
