Liverpool remain on the coattails of Premier League title rivals Manchester City but are slowly running out of games as the Sky Blues show no sign of dropping points.
The Reds will next turn their focus to the UEFA Champions League. They travel to Spain to face Villarreal in the second leg of their semi-final tie on Wednesday after winning the first leg 2-0 last week.
Today's roundup features some transfer talk on Enes Unal and some tidbits from Jurgen Klopp. Without further ado, let's take a look at the latest stories featuring Liverpool as of May 1, 2022.
Liverpool interested in Enes Unal
With Divock Origi set to leave Anfield as a free agent in the summer, Fichajes claim that Liverpool are interested in signing Enes Unal from Getafe.
Unal is only behind Karim Benzema in the race for the La Liga Golden Boot this season and has been a key player for Getafe.
His 15 goals in 32 appearances this season have helped Getafe stay above the relegation zone, and his form is likely to attract interest from elsewhere as well.
Liverpool want to replace Origi, and Klopp is keen to sign the 24-year-old to preserve the incredible quality and depth of his team’s attack.
Jurgen Klopp explains why he didn’t rest Andy Robertson
Jurgen Klopp has explained that he did not want to make three changes to the back four for his team's clash against Newcastle United.
The German rested Trent Alexander-Arnold and handed Joe Gomez a rare chance. However, he didn’t do the same with Andy Robertson.
Kostas Tsimikas has been pretty impressive this season, but the Greece international remained an unused substitute on the bench against the Magpies.
After the game, Klopp explained:
“Look, it’s my job to make decisions, I don’t have to do a lot of other things. For example, Kostas Tsimikas would’ve deserved to play and Robbo would have had a break as well, but when you change one full-back and a centre-half and there are three changes in the last line, what I think then is, ‘No, don’t do that, let’s do it like this.’ The decisions are not that difficult because the boys are all in a good shape, really all in a good shape.”
Journalist says Reds are interested in Tchouameni
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Liverpool, among other Premier League clubs, are interested in signing AS Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.
He revealed:
“I’m told there is strong interest from the Premier League. Keep an eye on Liverpool. There is a huge chance for him to sign in the Premier League this summer. They are really keen.”
Tchouameni will not come cheap, though, as Foot Mercato (via ESPN) claim it will take at least €50 million to sign him.
The 22-year-old has made 47 appearances for AS Monaco across all competitions this season, scoring three goals and providing two assists.

It's not the same, there's a difference in playing a false 9 or a real CF which Liverpool has 3#Firmino#Origi#Jota.
Out for the 3 “real”cf, only perhaps jota have some playing opportunities, even so he was brought in for his adaptability to play any front trio.it’s like city Gabriel and Torres, they are wingers by trade but being deployed at cf occasionally..so I would say both city and Liverpool are playing somewhat similar in the false nine role. Well unless haaland do join u guys next season then he will be a pure number 9 or cf

Idk if anyone can replace origi

It’s the same for city, most of the wingers are constantly swapping positions amongst the front trio. They are being placed at st/cf position as it’s the coach preference .

...but the wingers and midfielders are all scoring goals and winning matches. what's the difference?
What's the difference, haven't you watched games he lost points? Against defensive teams when he needed goals 100m Grealish can't help him and Pep knows it that's why he wanted Kane🤷♂️and in the summer Haaland. Now he's using de Jesus after benching and not believing in him.

How do you mean not really, Diogo Jota can play as a left or right winger but in reality he's a ST/CF and he for sure ain't a winger.

Goal difference would be 0, goals for and against will be the excact same, and if City and Pool replicate their follow Inc 2 games in score lines, the EPL title is SHARED?
Interesting should that happen, nevertheless it’s going down to the wire

Klopp is looking out to sign a new attacker this summer to replace Origi who's leaving, most likely to AC Milan. Otherwise he should be satisfied with the deadly 5 attackers at his disposal + Origi + Minamino.

Tchouameni will be a fantastic buy for L'pool. Watched him play for Monaco and France. He's highly talented. Will be a terrific understudy for Fabinho as DM and also plays very well as a no.8 CM. Looks every inch like a Klopp player.

Klopp has a bunch of strikers but still wants to add another while Guardiola is in need but keeps buying wingers and midfielders🤦♂️.

And people say that Klopp Don't spend money So did he himself giving birth to all the players that are playing in Liverpool 😂

they were bought over a looong time, not at once, not in a season. They buy only one or two in a season and not above £50m.

It once again proved Klopp known his players well. Who needed to be rested and who required more movement to keep their spirit up, he knew it very well. It also shown that the atmosphere in the Reds squad is absolutely good and there is only one goal, to win every coming games. And klopp is respected by everyone in the team, he has the absolute power to mobilize the team. Let’s go for it !

And that's his best position. It's like Bale, he started as a LB moved to midfield when Modric left and ended up as a Forward/AM at Spurs and at Real Madrid a Forward/RW. You ain't going to tell me Bale isn't a Forward because he only started playing more offensively for a few months at Tottenham and as a RW at Real Madrid.

Liverpool should look for a good striker (finisher) and a holding midfielder

Man United team should be like this next season Erik Ten Hag🔥🔥🔥I’m a Liverpool fan tho but I don’t want to see Man city dominating EPL league each and every season like that?

Jota only started playing as a ST/CF when he came to Liverpool. He has been playing as a winger when he was at Porto , ATM and Wolves.

Other managers will be looking for overated players but klopp will keep his eyes down searching for the low class ones and he will turn them to world class... Best manager in the world no doubt 💯

Not really, the only recognised striker we have are origi and firmino(more of cam rather). Jota and mane are wingers by trade, so both Liverpool and city have several wingers and no strikers

If it ends that way, it will depends on the “goal difference” between both teams to decide the winner

What is the chance that Liverpool draw their next EPL game 0-0, and ManCity losing their next game 1-2?
