Liverpool rejected Bayern Munich's opening bid of £58.5million for Luis Diaz but the Bundesliga champions have returned to the negotiating table with an improved offer
Liverpool have agreed a deal with Bayern Munich to sell wantaway star Luis Diaz after the German giants upped their bid to £65.5million. Diaz, 28, has been granted permission to leave the club's Far East tour and is all set to complete his Anfield exit.
The Colombia international has been pushing for a move to Munich after informing the Reds' hierarchy that he wants to leave this summer after the club refused to enter contract negotiations. Diaz and his representatives have been after a new contract for over 12 months, believing him to be comparatively underpaid on Merseyside, but Kop bosses had been unwilling to pay up.
Diaz missed Liverpool's 4-2 defeat in a friendly with AC Milan on Saturday as they continue their pre-season tour of Asia. Arne Slot confirmed post-match that Diaz was absent due to his uncertain future but insisted that he's been training well.
Liverpool rejected an opening bid from Bayern worth £58.5m last week. But Vincent Kompany's side have been determined to sign Diaz and are now set to get their man.
Bayern made an improved offer of £65.5m over the weekend which Liverpool have now accepted.
Following the loss against Milan, Slot was asked if both the 28-year-old and team-mate Darwin Nunez's absences were linked to potential transfers.
"In Lucho's situation it was, yeah," the Liverpool boss told reporters. "There are a lot of rumours around it lately and I cannot go into that. But he is training really well with us and we have decided, for now, not to play him yet.
"In Darwin's situation, he has trained really well also and played a few good games for us already this pre-season. He was injured so we didn't want to take the risk and it was also the same with Wataru Endo, trained with us all week but we didn't want to take a risk with him either.
Should Liverpool sell Luis Diaz for £65.4m? Have your say in the comments section.
"So it is part of pre-season, the boys need to get towards match fitness and that is a thin balance, a thin line sometimes. We thought it was smarter for Darwin and Wata to sit it out today but I assume they will be with us when we are in Japan."
Bayern manager Kompany is said to have spoken to Diaz during a recent video call and outlined his plans for the former Porto star, who joined Liverpool for £37.5m in January 2022. The German giants want to sign a forward after missing out on top target Florian Wirtz - a race won by Liverpool - and having lost both Leroy Sane and Thomas Muller this summer on free transfers.
They are also facing a considerable period without Jamal Musiala due to injury.

with the current situation that arise from LD issue is better to let him leave now and recoup the paid to get him. that's nice business by Liverpool, but I will suggest they should go Rodrigo to replace him not isak cos of Liverpool go for isak, they should remember Andy Carrol case of wasting money. Then sell chiesa to Atalanta and Harvey Elliot in order to recovered so much of the money spend this season and prioritize a defender for cover up

as for me if Liverpool love him to stay , they can do it also , he is a good player I can't go against what he want , it is life for real ,if the salary is what make him want to leave , Liverpool know what to do , so many players today , after their days of football is over , they end up without nothing and become a beggar ,

Same thing with Mane
Mane didn't leave LFC because of poor salary.Rather he left because of d fierce rivalry between him and salah which was beginning to get unhealthy. Also he was busy pushing for same salary with salah instead of focussing on improving his all round game.

We all know that LD is a fantastic player and should have been patient for LFC to offer him new contract terms which I was sure d club will instead of him and his agent pressuring the club to do so.I know d club is very passionate about rewarding all their players especially d stand out performers which LD happened to be part of.A Salary of £50k per week after tax isn't bad at all which could have become around100k plus dis summer but for his impatience. All the same,I wish him the very best in his new adventure...YNWA.

A lot will move because you don't pay good wages, F.Y.I. If DIAZ moves to B.MUNICH which you will miss a very important forward.

for Diaz to leave anfield is because of his salary is the only senior player to get a 50k like academy which is not good, good luck Diaz

The main reason he's leaving is because of poor salary, imagine a player of his calibre earning 50k per month is very poor

Liverpool keeps on winning. I really hope this works out for Bayern because 75 million plus bonuses is a lot of money.
