Liverpool have agreed to sign teenage French defender Billy Koumetio from US Orleans Loiret.
The 16-year-old arrived in England earlier this week to complete the deal.
Koumetio played for Lyon before moving to Lorient aged 11, and underwent a trial spell at Liverpool in November.
Liverpool’s Under-23s sit fifth in Premier League 2 while the youth team lead the Premier League Under-18s.
Koumetio, a left-sided defender, is the latest arrival in a string of young purchases as Liverpool look to strengthen their junior ranks.
While Koumetio is another youngster through the door, there are unlikely to be any additions to Jurgen Klopp's first team.

These are youth signings, not first team players. This is good for creating a solid pipeline of players to learn the Liverpool way of playing and moving onto the first team in a year or two.

in the first position with the club buying young players is good but not the ultimate solution for the injury woes that the club is facing, following the last match the team was struggling in defence n it was evident we need an emergency defender or cancel the loan agreement of Clyn but see the club vying for the premier league wasting energy on kids while u have a trophy at hand,mmmssscchhheeeww now or never another 30yrs of building.
