According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are confident of tying down the services of Ibrahima Konaté (25). The France international defender’s representatives are currently in negotiations with the Merseyside outfit over a new contract that would further extend his time at Anfield.
The 25-year-old’s current deal with the Premier League side is set to expire in 2026. Despite being one of the most important players for the Reds, Konaté is one of the lowest-paid players at the club. Liverpool are looking to address this by providing the Paris-born centre-back with a long-term deal and a substantial pay increase.
Negotiations between the club and player are progressing well and are close to reaching a complete agreement, Romano understands. Konaté is impressed by the project that has been presented under new head coach Arne Slot at Anfield and the Reds boss highly appreciates the quality of the former Leipzig defender who has had an impressive start to the season.
