Liverpool have taken another step forward in rebuilding the Anfield Road Stand as a 'huge truss' was put into position on Tuesday morning.
Work on the stand began last September, with manager Jurgen Klopp putting a spade into the ground to mark the start of the construction.
Significant progress has been made since then, and the club's communications vice-president Craig Evans has now delivered an update on the new stand.
'The huge truss on the new Anfield Road Stand is being carefully lifted into position this morning,' he tweeted on Tuesday.
When the stand is completed, it will be able to hold an extra 7,000 fans.
The majority of the seats in the new stand - 5,200 to be precise - will be general admission seats, whereas the remaining 1,800 will be lounge or hospitality seats, and will take Anfield's total capacity past the 61,000 mark.
This would make Anfield the third largest ground in the Premier League by capacity, behind only Old Trafford and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
However, there is still plenty of work to be done before the stand is in place and ready to be used.
The club aim to have the stand completed ahead of the start of the 2023-24 season, meaning that it is still around 12 months away from being finished.

when a stadium is described with words such as stands then just know it's a baby stadium
yet you failed to win the league in 30years and you consider yourselves rivals to Manchester United....

Liverpool has more UCL trophies than Barcelona that's enough to put them above them. the super club is real Madrid followed by AC Milan then you get guys like Liverpool and FC Bayern as far as UCL is concerned.

The only ground where Liverpool and Barcelona can be compared is in the champions league because you can't obviously compare a two horse race league to the premier league and also that's the only competition both play in and Liverpool have more trophies and more wins against you even though like you said the last 15 year we were no where. You have been winning tropies for the past 15 years while Liverpool have been scumd but yet you couldn't win more UCL trophies than them? Stop embarrassing yourself.
