Liverpool could win PL earlist on Mar 21 after Man City's game postponed

Liverpool's wait to be officially crowned Premier League champions will go on after Manchester City's game with West Ham was called off on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds boast an incredible 22 point-lead over second-place City, after a win over Southampton last Saturday and Pep Guardiola's side suffered a 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur a day later.

Jurgen Klopp's men are yet to lose in the Premier League this season, having won every game, bar one draw to Manchester United in October.

The record-breaking Reds could win the title on March 21, as long as they carry on their winning streak.

City cannot mathematically catch Klopp's men if they manage to do this, and the sixth game from now would be when Crystal Palace come to Anfield on March 21.

The absolute earliest that the Reds could be crowned champions is March 7, when they host Bournemouth at Anfield, requiring Liverpool to win every game between now and then and City also slip-up along the way.

But after their game with the Hammers was postponed this afternoon due to the weather, they only have one league fixture before that date, against Leicester on Saturday, February 22, due to the winter break and Carabao Cup commitments.

Should City's clash with West Ham be rearranged before March 7, then that becomes a possibility for Liverpool to clinch the league. Otherwise the next opportunity, should City lose to Leicester, would be at Goodison Park on March 16.

The earliest any team have ever won the Premier League title is when Manchester United clinched the accolade on 14 April 2001, but despite the postponement, the Reds are still on course to beat United's record.
