A photograph has emerged showing Ryan Gravenberch donning a Liverpool shirt amid speculation he could make the switch from Bayern Munich this summer.
The Netherlands international joined the German giants from Ajax last summer, but has struggled for minutes among strong competition for a starting place in the club's midfield.
Such has been his difficulty in achieving consistent minutes, reports emerged last week that preliminary talks had taken place between his father, who is his representative, and Liverpool over a summer move.
It was reported initially by The Times that these had taken place in his native country last Tuesday.
Excitement levels among Liverpool supporters have been heightened further after a photograph emerged showing the £25m-rated midfielder donning the club's shirt while in what appears to be a gym.
The date of the photograph is uncertain, though he is wearing the kit from the 2019-20 campaign.
Liverpool are expected to embark on a significant summer rebuild this summer, with the midfield area needing a significant revamp with a number of players either set to depart or no longer deemed good enough.
It was revealed last week that the club's pursuit of Jude Bellingham was being curtailed in favour of signing a number of players for the position.
It is expected Bellingham will cost upwards of £100m, money Liverpool do not wish to spend on a single player.
Various supporters expressed excitement over the potential move for Gravenberch on social media, with one writing: 'Apparently he’d cost around 25 mill i’d definitely take him for that.'
Another added: 'Listen everyone he’s 20 years of age and clearly has the talent, I trust Klopp. He would 100 turn this kid world class.'
'I’m sold sign him,' another wrote.
Gravenberch, alongside the likes of Conor Gallagher and Mason Mount, both currently of Chelsea, have been heavily linked with moves to Merseyside this summer.
The 20-year-old has made just one start for Bayern in the league this season, with a further 16 appearances coming off the bench.
He was one of the most sought-after talents in Europe when he burst onto the scene at Ajax, and Bayern snapped up his signature last year.
He's also been capped by Holland, but missed out on a place in their World Cup squad last year, after then-head coach Louis van Gaal warned players against leaving Dutch clubs in the summer.
The Reds are currently ninth in the Premier League and their hopes of a top four finish are fading by the game, with a huge match against Leeds scheduled for Monday evening.
Bayern, meanwhile, are two points ahead of Borussia Dortmund at the top of the Bundesliga, and recently appointed Tuchel to try and get the club over the line.
They are up against it in the Champions League, however, following their 3-0 defeat to Manchester City on Tuesday.
