Former Manchester City winger Trevor Sinclair caused a huge stir on Twitter on Tuesday night by aiming a controversial slur at Liverpool.
While watching City romp to a 4-1 victory over Burnley in the Premier League, Sinclair - who played for the club between 2003-07 - wrote on social media: 'Bin dippers we're coming for you.'
And inevitably, Liverpool fans took to social media after the needless jibe to vent their frustration - with many demanding he is sacked as a pundit from talkSPORT.
One football supporter replied to talkSPORT on Wednesday morning on Twitter, questioning: 'Have you sacked Trevor Sinclair yet?'
Another social media user made the claim following his controversial tweet: 'Trevor Sinclair will be sacked in the morning.'
The radio station were tagged in another furious tweet again: 'I see your mate from talkSPORT, Trevor Sinclair, was tweeting sick comments about people starving. Any comment? Thought not.'
Meanwhile, someone else wrote: 'Trevor Sinclair, a man supposed to be a professional media pundit, thinks its ok to mock poverty.'
And the angry responses continued to flood in on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning following the Premier League action.
'What a bigoted comment. When are the FA going to do something about these hateful names and get people like Trevor Sinclair out of the game kickitout', blasted another social media user.
And following the massive backlash on social media, 46-year-old Sinclair tried to backtrack on Twitter.
After receiving initial abuse, the former England international joked, alongside three laughing emojis: 'So sensitive, calm down you're still 8 points ahead.'
He then opted for a more sensitive approach on Wednesday morning after realising the grave error he made.
'To any fan that was offended by what I wrote last night I apologise', Sinclair said on Twitter. 'It was a throw away line regarding closing the gap.
'It wasn't my intention to offend anyone, especially from a social stance. I'm a working class lad and understand how it's been taken. Sorry.'

I used to respect Liverpool supporters once, I thought they were knowledgeable about the game, turns out that wearing red is not the only thing LFC has in common with MUFC!!!!!
Do any of you actually have English as a first language? Or did you even pass primary school? Poor grammar, nonsensical whimpering by a club b desperate to win a title!!!

your respect and opinion counts as nothing, and will always go unnoticed. Having to throw bricks at ur club is a common trait of football hooliganism of which then entire reds fan base refuse to be dragged down the mud by it. so stick to ur adulterated opinion Sinclair was wrong (period)
