Liverpool are reportedly close to signing Birmingham and England youth international Calum Scanlon after the Championship club accepted a bid for the 15-year-old.
The Reds are looking to strengthen their academy ranks and have identified Scanlon as a promising talent.
According to The Times, Birmingham have accepted an undisclosed offer, which thought to be around £500,000. The versatile youngster can play at left back or in midfield.
The report says Birmingham have recently conducted an internal review of their approach to developing their young players and are considering remodelling their academy. However, Liverpool's interest in Scanlon is said to predate that decision.
The Championship side sold Jude Bellingham to Borussia Dortmund for a fee of £25million in July and he has already broken into the Bundesliga side's first team.
Bellingham, who only turned 17 in June, also made his England debut in November.
Scanlon is another youngster from the midlands club who is considered to have a bright future.
He received his first international call-up when he was selected for England U15 for a friendly against the Republic of Ireland in December 2019.
His family are now considering whether a move to the Premier League champions would be the best move for his development.
Jurgen Klopp has shown his commitment in promoting academy players to the first team with Curtis Jones and Neco Williams both featuring in the league this season.
Caoimhin Kelleher was trusted to deputise for goalkeeper Alisson while he was injured at the start of December while defender Rhys Williams has stepped up in the absence of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.
