Liverpool have won a stunning 79 points from a possible 81 since March

Liverpool look to be rampantly charging towards their first ever Premier League title and the stats behind Jurgen Klopp's title tilt are stunning.

The Reds have been spectacular this season as they aim to swipe the league title from defending champions Manchester City. Their recent 4-0 drubbing of second-placed Leicester on Boxing Day only further established their domestic dominance with 13 points between themselves and anyone else in the league.

The Foxes have since played again to close the gap to 10 points, but Klopp's side now have two games in hand on them ahead of their clash with Wolves on Sunday afternoon.

The players will convey the message that the title race is not over until it is mathematically done and dusted, but Liverpool fans, despite history proving they shouldn't just yet, are rightfully beginning to believe.

The momentum from the back-end of last season has seamlessly transferred into the current campaign, as Jurgen Klopp's men have won an astounding 79 points from a possible 81 since March.

This season, Liverpool have won 17 of their 18 Premier League matches and accumulated 52 points. In the 2011-12 Premier League season, it took them all 38 matches to tally up that many points.

Their near-perfect win rate this term have many believing they can maintain an unbeaten record for the duration of the campaign.

The recent win against Leicester was the biggest victory between two teams starting a match in the top two of the Premier League since October 2011, when league leaders Manchester City beat Manchester United 6-1. Their ruthless nature is something that has taken time to rise to the surface under Klopp's reign but now stands them in good stead against any opposition who show a sign of weakness.

From their 18 league matches, they have scored 46 goals and conceded just 14. The Reds also boast a perfect home record with nine victories from nine at Anfield; a feat that strikes fear into any side who travels to the north west.

The team are firing on all cylinders from Allison between the sticks to Roberto Firmino leading the line. Both Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah have chipped in with nine goals apiece and right back Trent Alexander-Arnold is in the running for the most assists this season - currently on eight, two behind City's Kevin De Bruyne.

Key defender and Ballon d'Or runner-up Virgil van Dijk has featured in every match this season which has been vital to their defensive structure and resilience.

Meanwhile, midfielders Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum, Naby Keita, James Milner and Fabinho have formed a formidable midfield that is capable of halting any opposition attack and allows the ball to flow through effortlessly from the defenders through to the forwards when in possession.

However, their incredible Premier League stats stretch further than the beginning of the 2019-20 campaign, as the Reds have just one defeat from their previous 57 Premier League matches. The loss came away to the eventual champions Manchester City in January 2019. They have not lost since. That's 51 weeks unbeaten.

This means, if they manage to not lose against Wolves and Sheffield United in their matches either side of the new year, they will be unbeaten for over a whole year.

In that unbeaten run dating back to January, they have played 27 league matches and won 26 of them - the draw being the 1-1 scoreline at Old Trafford earlier this season.

It hasn't just been domestic success for Klopp, however, as his men recently qualified for the Champions League knockout stages and lifted the FIFA Club World Cup for the first time.

Add all of this to their Champions League title win at the end of last season and it becomes apparent they are one of the greatest club's in world football at this moment.

It is only the illusive Premier League trophy missing now for Jurgen Klopp to have achieved everything he would have wanted to since joining the club in 2015. And well now, it doesn't seem so illusive.
