Liverpool have registered an interest in Bournemouth forward Arnaut Danjuma but the Dutchman is a priority for Villarreal, according to reports in Spain.
The 24-year-old scored 17 goals and provided eight assists for the Cherries last term as they reached the play-offs prior to their defeat by Brentford.
Europa League winners Villarreal are believed to have had an opening offer of £12million rejected by the Championship side for the Netherlands international.
And MARCA claim while the Spanish outfit remain keen on bringing Danjuma to the club, they will not meet Bournemouth's £21m valuation of the striker.
Jurgen Klopp is said to be keen to sign a new forward, with Wolves star Adama Traore - who is also interesting Tottenham - and Euro 2020 winner Federico Chiesa also reportedly on the radar.
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has urged them to sign 'someone who can score goals' in the front three amid rumours Roberto Firmino will not be rewarded with a new deal past the expiry of his current contract until 2023.
The same outlet however confirms that following Villarreal's bid, Bournemouth have revalued Danjuma and that has attracted the eyes of several top-flight clubs including the Reds.
Speaking last week, Cherries boss Scott Parker admitted he was unsure whether Danjuma - who joined from Club Brugge in 2019 - would be at the club for the start of the campaign against West Brom on Friday.
When asked, Parker said: 'Not sure, to be honest with you.
'Obviously we are in a transfer window at this moment in time. The club have rejected a bid for Arnie.'
While the Reds have yet to decide on which forward they will move for, they have succeeded in tying members of their existing squad down to new deals.
Midfielder Fabinho followed Trent Alexander-Arnold in committing his long-term future to the club in a deal which will keep the Brazilian at Anfield until 2026.
Sportsmail understands a bumper extension deal for goalkeeper Alisson Becker is next on the list of top priorities at Anfield.
It is understood that Liverpool are also looking into a new long-term deal for forward Mohamed Salah, who last season finished runner up to Harry Kane in the race for the golden boot.

I'm actually surprised that most of y'all think this is actually true 😕 Isn't the it obvious that everyone tries to to link their players to Liverpool this days just to increase the value of the player?? There are numerous players linked to Liverpool this summer that Liverpool fc never even knew anything about. 🤷♂️🤷♂️
