Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler to build hundreds of new homes in city

Reds legend Robbie Fowler has announced plans to build hundreds of homes between the city centre and Anfield in what he hopes to be the first of various new developments around the city.

Kop favourite Fowler, who scored over 180 goals for Liverpool and is currently managing Australian side Brisbane Roar, has launched a partnership with developer Elatus for a scheme called St Anne's Gardens.

The development is set to contain 325 properties on the site between St Anne Street and Fox Street in Vauxhall.

Fowler owns various properties across the UK including in Liverpool, but this is his first venture into actual development and building in the city.

Work is hoped to start within 12 weeks, and the former striker said he is keen to launch further developments “over the next couple of years”.

A statement from Fowler said: “I'm delighted to announce that I have teamed up with Elatus Development Group to develop St Anne's Gardens.

“I have always had a passion for property development and to be part of a big project like this is not only great for my personal ambition but will be great for this region of Liverpool.”

According to the partnership, 50 apartments have been sold so far, and it's hoped the development will be completed by the end of next year.

Planning permission for the development, which will be split into three blocks, was approved in February 2018.

Elatus' other Liverpool projects include Cathedral View - a 217-apartment scheme on St James Street, and commercial site Blundell Street, which is currently under construction.
