Liverpool have registered an interest in signing Sofyan Amrabat following his impressive performances during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Jurgen Klopp recently admitted he was in the market for a new midfielder and Amrabat has been earmarked as a potential target.

Amrabat helped Morocco secure a 2-0 win over Belgium in the group stages of the tournament and is expected to excel against Canada on Thursday.

The 26-year-old is currently earning €1.8million-a-year (£1.56m) in Florence but could earn substantially more if he agrees to join the Premier League giants.

According to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, Amrabat would be interested in swapping Fiorentina for Liverpool if the paycheck was right.

The appeal of Champions League football could also lure the 26-year-old away from Fiorentina during the January transfer market.

Therefore, Fiorentina will struggle to keep hold of Amrabat if Liverpool table a lucrative deal as they do not have the financial means to match their offer.

Jurgen Klopp has also made it clear he is in the market for a midfielder. He admitted earlier this season: 'I know we have had this discussion since it all started and I am the one who said we don't need a midfielder and you were all right and I was wrong.

'That's the situation. There is really nothing more to say about it. We are looking for it, and if it is the right player we need him and if it is not the right player we don't need him.'

Jordan Henderson, Thiago and Naby Keita are important players for Klopp but they have struggled to maintain their fitness.

The Liverpool boss does have Harvey Elliott, Fabio Carvalho and Curtis Jones at his disposal. However, they are all relatively in experienced and could do with some old players around them.

Therefore, a move for Amrabat could be beneficial for Klopp.

Fiorentina are also at risk of losing Amrabat to Tottenham as the North London club have registered an interest in signing the 26-year-old.

Antonio Conte is said to have been in talks with Amrabat over a potential deal last year but nothing ever materialised.
