Liverpool have lost a European game at home for the first time in six years after crashing out of the Champions League last-16 at the hands of Atletico Madrid.
With Wednesday's loss, Liverpool's run of 42 matches unbeaten at Anfield was broken, with the team's previous defeat at home coming to Chelsea in the Carabao Cup last season.
In addition, the result ended the Reds' winning streak at home in European competition, as Anfield was the site of a defeat for the first time since 2014.
The last time they crashed out at the last-16 stage of the competition was in 2006, when Benfica knocked them out – that was also the last time they lost both legs of a tie until Wednesday evening.
Klopp, meanwhile, saw his magic touch in knockout ties evaporate, as the manager lost his first two-legged tie since taking over in 2015.
During that stretch, Liverpool reached a Europa League final as well as two Champions League final, falling to Sevilla and Real Madrid in Klopp's first two final appearances.

Over-Confidence doesn’t help. Liverpool were outplayed in Madrid and rather than introspecting they went on shouting Anfield awaits you. Lol. ATM boned you in Anfield, in front of the KOP and a certain Crying TAA. There’s still time to introspect and do well in future. Liverpool still has the best first team on the planet.

Exactly thinking Anfield is untouchable is the dumbest thing. Good record there but reality is it's not about the stadium but about who is better prepared. Simeone is a master defensive coach everyone knows that so Klopp should have been aware that this guy will soak up pressure and hit you on the counter. Regardless he instead played an even higher line and left himself entirely exposed to counter attacks. After going 2-2 the smart thing would have been to see out the game and then aim for a late goal but instead Atletico were let back into the game and went on to batter them cos of lack of defensive organisation I mean VVD was up front for half of extra time. This loss was on Klopp but as Liverpool fans are predictable, it's easy to see theyll blame their keeper though even Alisson would have still seen them lose tonight...
