Liverpool have decided they are willing to sell young midfielder Ovie Ejaria this transfer window - but will not consider a loan switch.
The England Under 21 midfielder, who has made two first team appearances for the Reds, has had loan spells with Sunderland, Rangers and Reading.
Reports this week suggested he was close to securing a temporary switch to head back to the Madjeski Stadium after he impressed in the Championship over the second half of last season.
But according to the Liverpool Echo , those talks are over a permanent deal, with the player keen to move on due to frustrations at being left out of the first team fold for pre-season.
Any more loan moves for the 21-year-old are believed to be off the table, with Brentford also pursuing a £3.5m deal which would include add-ons and a sell-on clause.
If a deal cannot be agreed for a permanent transfer, Ejaria looks likely to stay at Liverpool for the time being and bolster their Under 23s squad as they enter the EFL Trophy for the first time.
He could also feature in the Carabao Cup, but breaking into Klopp's first team plans seems unlikely having played just seven minutes of Premier League football, with his last substitute appearance back in 2017.
Ejaria recognises his future at Anfield is bleak and is keen to play regular football, although the club are demanding at least £3m to part with the talented central midfielder.

Playing wise there’s nothing wrong with him BUT leaving pre-maturely with Rangers is his downfall. What Gerrard said to Klopp carry a lot of weight about the player. Kent is the living proof.
