Liverpool transfer gossip: Werner price tag plus Spurs target wants Anfield move

Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for Germany striker Timo Werner this transfer window.

And it appears they are close to having a price tag for the frontman set in stone as he ponders a new contract featuring a release clause designed to ensure RB Leipzig can cash in when he decides to leave.

The Reds are also said to be the preferred option for an in-demand Tottenham target, plus out-of-favour Simon Mignolet has discussed his Anfield future.

Here's a look at the latest Liverpool rumours as a relatively quiet transfer window on Merseyside builds up towards an intriguing climax.

Werner price tag set

Liverpool will reportedly need to shell out  around £60m to land Timo Werner.

According to Bild, RB Leipzig have offered him a bumper new contract with a €70million release clause.

The Germany striker has been indecisive about his future with Liverpool said to be big admirers.

Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are also options to stay in the Bundesliga.

But he could sign a Leipzig extension for the time being, which would give Liverpool their price if they decide they want to land their man in the summer.

Rabiot holds out for Reds?

Adrien Rabiot has reportedly turned down Tottenham’s advances - because he would rather join  Liverpool  .

The French midfielder’s future has been the source of much speculation for months after rejecting a new deal at PSG.

He was seemingly on his way to  Barcelona  on a free at the end of this season but an agreement has not been reached.

That alerted the likes of Spurs and  Chelsea  , with the former tipped to have made an approach for the midfielder.

But according to Paris United,  Rabiot is hesitating on a move to north London and would rather join their Premier League rivals instead.

Mignolet issues transfer update

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet says he misses the buzz of first team action - but claims playing second fiddle is easier to take this season because of Alisson Becker’s brilliance.

Mignolet, 30, lost his status as the club’s number one a year ago, and has only played in two domestic cup games all season.

But he told the  Liverpool Echo  that he admires the impact Alisson has made since signing for £65million last summer.

Mignolet was initially cast aside for Loris Karius, who struggled to deliver and endured a personal nightmare in the Champions League final in Kiev.

Karius has been sent on loan to Besiktas and opted to keep Mignolet in reserve.

Mignolet said: “Yeah, I can accept it easier now.

“It’s also the fact that the team is playing so well. Ali has been so important for the team.

“He has shown his strengths. He’s up there with the top five keepers in the world, if not the best.

“He’s a very natural goalkeeper. He’s got a lot of talent and he’s very fluent, he doesn’t really think about stuff. It’s all natural to him.

“He’s playing as the No.1 for Brazil in front of Manchester City ’s goalkeeper – that says enough, really. I can accept that slightly better.”
