Liverpool transfer news: 'Insulting' TAA bid slammed as new contract demand made

Liverpool are riding high at the top of the Premier League and in Europe, but all is not well on Merseyside.

The Reds continue to be hamstrung by speculation over three of their top stars with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk all out of contract at the end of the season.

Real Madrid made an approach to sign Alexander-Arnold last week and it remains to be seen if they will return to the table before the end of the month. Arne Slot could also try to bolster his squad in the coming weeks in order to help his team in their quest for another domestic crown.

Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest transfer news from Anfield after Sunday's enthralling 2-2 draw with Manchester United...

'Insulting' Trent bid slammed

Gary Neville has blasted Real Madrid for lodging an 'insulting' transfer offer for Trent Alexander-Arnold as speculation over his future continues to rumble on.

The right-back, 26, was the subject of an approach from the Spanish giants last week, with Real ready to pay £20million to sign him in January. It had been thought their preferred option would be to snap the England star up on a free transfer in summer.

But Neville has criticised Los Blancos for making an offer in the week leading up to Liverpool's big game against Manchester United.

Slot told to sign a left-back

Arne Slot has been urged to sign a new left-back in January by Anfield favourite Jamie Carragher.

Scotland star Andy Robertson has been a fixture at left-back for the Reds but has struggled for consistency this season. And with Liverpool in pole position to land the Premier League title in May, Carragher doesn't want Slot and co to take any chances.

Speaking after Sunday's match with Manchester United, he made it clear that he reckons adding another left-back to help Robertson out in January could make all the difference in the title race.

Carragher has previously tipped Liverpool to make a move for Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez: a player he thinks would be perfect for Slot's team.

New contract demand made

Liverpool fans have already made signs telling Fenway Sports Group to give Mohamed Salah a new contract this season - and they've now unveiled a new sign adding Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk into the mix.

The banner, which depicts all three Liverpool stars, was spotted in the crowd during Sunday's match against Manchester United.

And the message to FSG was loud and clear: "Give Mo and co their dough".
