Liverpool have a lot going on behind the scenes, with the January transfer window now in full swing.
Unlike other Premier League clubs, Liverpool’s business is primarily focused inwards, on securing the futures of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Contracts are on the table for all three, but question marks remain, particularly over Alexander-Arnold, with Real Madrid circling and his performances dipping.
Liverpool could still make use of the window to bring in a new player, with an injury to Joe Gomez leaving Arne Slot short in central defence. With a potential shot at the Premier League title on the line – not to mention the Champions League, Carabao Cup and FA Cup – another option in defence could make all the difference.
Elon Musk’s name has been connected with the Reds over the past few days, but the club has no interest in allowing the world’s richest man in. Here are the latest rumours involving the club.
Luis Diaz has long been linked with a move to Barcelona and he has now reportedly turned down the offer of a new contract at Liverpool. Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claim that Diaz has rebuffed an offer, partly due to overtures from Barca.
The 27-year-old winger is under contract until June 2027, but the club are keen to extend his deal. Diaz is stalling on such a possibility because he believes his importance to the side isn’t being recognised in the offer on the table.
He isn’t the only player on Barcelona’s radar, though, with Nico Williams and Rafael Leao also of interest. It should be noted that Barcelona are hardly in a position to poach other club’s players, considering they currently can’t even register Dani Olmo due to their financial mess.
Liverpool midfielder Tyler Morton is wanted by Hull and Sheffield United in the January transfer window. Morton has made just three Carabao Cup appearances this season and Mirror Football understands he is waiting to hear if Arne Slot will sanction a loan move.
Sheffield United are pursuing Leicester’s Hamza Choudhury and Southampton’s Ben Brereton Diaz as reinforcements for a promotion push, but Morton is another option being considered by Chris Wilder.
Meanwhile, Hull would also like to re-sign Morton after he enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Tigers last season. The 22-year-old made 41 appearances at Hull and is proven in the Championship, having also represented Blackburn with distinction.
Mohamed Salah has revealed that he is learning Spanish – but quickly played down suggestions that could lead to a move to La Liga. Salah has been offered new terms by Liverpool, with his current deal expiring in June, and is in fantastic form.
The Egyptian wants to focus on winning trophies for Liverpool this season, rather than speculation. But an interview he conducted with TNT Sports Mexico may have accidentally added fuel to the flames.
"I'm just learning the language a little, and I can say things like, 'How are you?' But that doesn't mean I'm considering living in Spain," Salah said. He was previously of interest to Saudi Arabian clubs, but is poised to sign a new two-year contract with Liverpool.

All these years under FSG, although the Anfield expansion & AXA Training Centre which is good.In terms of players salary is absolutely nonsense. Lucho with at his peak prime especially this season only getting £55K - Per Week). He deserve at least triple of his salary. which he's earning. Me self personally think he's new role no 9 is way better with Gakpo & Salah on the side. Same as Harvey & a couple of players as well. Shame on you FSG.

I think Liverpool are so stingy in times of transfer that's why they always complain, if they will make it this season then they must sing 3 players this January
Yes boss, Salah is 32 year now… he’s a winger not a goalkeeper, he want 3 year’s contract with additional money. If Liverpool agree to give him what he demands for, what would be their profit in the future. He wants to collect £375k to £400k per week apart from match bonus. That’s over 20.72m per year for 3 years. After that 3 years he will leave on free transfer and by that time will clock 35years. So what profit he will bring to the Club. So they will lost more than £60m on salah alone.

liverpool management really dont like liverpool team, what's the purpose of the Sporting director if he's jus going to sit and watch the team falter, because i really dont get it,when summer they say they're gonna watch and see where the team comes up short, now the excuse is they dont sign in winter so wait until summer again..🤣🤣is liverpool world comedy, and why tf the coach not using Elliot while Jones was rubbish now two matches in a row,Elliott was the stand out during the pre season assisting both goals to beat Arsenal and now the coach seems to have a vendetta against him while have jones doing nothing for 180mins on the field,Slot, watch yourself ok,you re a good coach but you cant suffer the team thru favoritism, you have a fresh Elliot with lots of skill on the bench yet you stubbornly using jones who might be fatigue yet you say you dont need any players, kmft
