Liverpool may be ticking along nicely on the pitch, but there are already obstacles forming off it in January.
The Reds are sweating over the future of three of their top stars including Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, the latter of whom has already been the subject of an approach from Real Madrid.
While other Premier League clubs target new signings, Liverpool fans are anxiously waiting to hear if they are any closer to getting Alexander-Arnold, Salah or club captain Virgil van Dijk signed up to new contracts - especially as all three are now free to negotiate a potential free transfer with clubs from overseas.
With the transfer window now open, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest news and gossip from in and around Anfield...
Real plot second Trent move
Real Madrid are weighing up a fresh approach for Trent Alexander-Arnold after Liverpool rebuffed initial talks about a deal which would see the defender move to Spain in January.
The England right-back, 26, is a long-term target for Los Blancos, who had been expected to bide their time and sign him for free next summer. But they made contact with Liverpool to gauge whether a deal could be done sooner earlier this week.
And while Liverpool emphatically shut down that approach, The Times report that the Spanish giants are ready to return to the table and are willing to pay up to £20million to sign Alexander-Arnold now.
Chiesa's agent set for talks
The agent of Federico Chiesa is set to hold talks with the Liverpool hierarchy as the winger angles for a loan move this month.
Chiesa, 27, joined the Reds from Juventus for a modest transfer fee back in the summer but has featured just four times for Arne Slot's side.
And with a host of Serie A clubs vying to sign Chiesa on loan, Calciomercato are reporting that Liverpool are now 'open' to letting the winger head out ahead of their talks with his representatives.
Ancelotti on Trent talk
Carlo Ancelotti has been quizzed on Real Madrid's interest in Trent Alexander-Arnold - but the Italian is giving little away.
The Spanish giants have already made contact with Liverpool over the right-back, who could walk away from Anfield as a free agent at the end of the season.
But when Ancelotti was asked about the chances of a deal happening in a press conference, the Real Madrid boss, unsurprisingly, kept his cards close to his chest.
