Liverpool transfer news: Reds could land Fernandes for cut-price fee

Liverpool could land Bruno Fernandes for a cut-price fee as Sporting Lisbon desperately look to raise cash.

Jurgen Klopp's side will face competition from fierce rivals Manchester United for the Portuguese ace, while he is also coveted by Atletico Madrid and AC Milan .

Fernandes has an £86m release clause, but Sporting Lisbon vice president Francisco Salgado Zenha has already admitted they might let him go for less.

And while United are believed to have already opened talks over the 24-year-old, Liverpool are also hovering with Adam Lallana 's future uncertain, according to Kop Spot .

Fernandes has scored 23 goals and provided 13 assists for Sporting Lisbon so far this season.

Sporting's vice president said on Portuguese TV channel TVI24, cited by A Bola: "To my knowledge there are no proposals. Are there any interested? Certainly.

"For 100 million he goes. Any value below, the decision has to be taken together.

"The way to manage football is not exclusively about money.

"If there is a good proposal, if it makes sense, it might be accepted, but we have no decision made on that."

AC Milan are keen to bring Fernandes back to Serie A.

He has spent the majority of his career so far in Italy, playing for Udinese and Sampdoria before heading back to Portgual in 2017.

Fernandes is current captain of the Lisbon club and their star player, but they appear resigned to losing him despite his long-term contract until 2023.

Manchester United opened talks over the player earlier this month , according to reports in Portugal, while Chelsea have also been linked.
