Jurgen Klopp’s side are the best in the land, but that doesn’t mean the Reds won’t continue to strive to improve.
Manchester City ’s failure this season serves as a warning to any side that grows complacent and doesn’t continue to move forward.
The Anfield club might not have been able to stump up the cash needed to stop Timo Werner from signing for Chelsea, but they are still the subject of much transfer speculation. Here are two of today’s biggest Liverpool transfer stories.
Alcantara says farewell to teammates
Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara has said goodbye to his teammates amid speculation that he could be on his way out of the club, with Liverpool interested.
Bild (via the Evening Standard) claims the Spanish international is determined to push through a move to the Premier League this summer and has already told teammates at the Allianz Arena that he is off.
Liverpool are believed to be leading the pursuit of the 29-year-old, with an asking price of £72million reportedly set by Bayern Munich for the midfielder.
Thiago made the move to the Allianz Arena in 2013 amid similar circumstances, turning down the offer of a new contract at Barcelona to force through a transfer to Bayern Munich. He could now do similar again.
Hertha Berlin in talks to keep Reds midfielder on loan
Marko Grujic has spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Hertha Berlin and it is possible the Liverpool midfielder could stay in the German capital beyond the summer.
The 24-year-old is set to return to Liverpool at the end of his loan deal, but Hertha Berlin sporting director Michael Preetz has confirmed the club’s intention to keep Grujic for at least another season if possible.
“Of course, we are in talks with Liverpool. Last summer, a door opened. Jurgen Klopp signalled to me that they were ready to loan Marko for another year,” Preetz told Kicker (via Sport Witness).
“Now they want him back and he should complete the [pre-season] preparation there. I cannot say today what will happen. But Marko is a player we will always think about here at Hertha.”

Lol I’m sure this is a rumor, Liverpool can’t afford to buy Thiago for 72mills as he ain’t that special all they need is back up as their midfielders are doing great so am 1000% sure it’s a rumor, so maybe man city oil money is going to buy him that price but Liverpool won’t buy at dat price
u are right! Klopp would have signed Werner for £53M

Bayern expect to buy Sane for less than €50M then? what a loser

I want thiago to stay as we create more chances going forward when he plays with kimmich but goretzka gives more defensive stability at the back and scores goals so even if thiago leaves the pivot of kimmich and goretzka would work
thats right

I believe thiago is a great player and he will do more better as a Liverpool player

so you are saying sell one of two good midfielders so in the end you remain with just two good midfielders. that is smart

They want 23 year old sane with 1 yr contract remaining for 35M and they want 72m for 29 yr old Thiago with same 1 yr remaining. Lol. if i was city owner, i would ruin sane carrier by benching him for one year even though he will leave free after one year. i believe city owner won't care about 35 Million for sane. fuck bayern puta bayern.

Thiago is a very good player and will make a fit for Liverpool but personally I don't think his service is need as Liverpool already has 2 to 3 good players in that position and adding thiago will be a waist of funds that can be use to strengthen then the attack and reduce dependency on MSF.

We didn’t pay 53M for Werner, then you say we’ll buy Traore and Neves for 110M, łatwe you said we’ll pay 80M for Coutinho, next was Dembele for 100M and now you say we will buy Thiago for 72M?!?! PLS stop with this stupid rumours
Except for the age. Thiago is miles ahead of all the players you mentioned....

agreed but 72 mil for a 29 year old just isn't worth it
72 millions is just an asking price it is not the buying price. Bayern Munich ask 72million and we can buy him less than that

Barca should get Thiago Alcantara rather pjanic, since he has got barca DNA and won't take much time adapting to the formation. Being a barca fan these days is hitting me so hard that their transfer plans are making me forget how great barca were..😕

it's a buzz off price dopey from Bayern! derrr!! if you want to finance kai havertz for us go for it!! we are not phased either! there is nothing like thiago on the planet right now regardless of his age! and even he was 33 he will be better than anything you have if you think any of your midfielders are good then you would have a statue for thiago before he leaves!! Thiago is my next fave midfielder since Pirlo. As much as I want him to stay and retire at Bayern, he has other things in mind. He's done a lot for us and for that, we'll have to respect his decision if he wants to leave.

£72m for a 29 year old, when we have players like Lallana and Shaqiri that are on their way out, Curtis Jones and Harry Wilson proving they have a place in the team. Definitely not happening. More likely heading to Man City.
