Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Newcastle on Saturday has heightened expectations that Jurgen Klopp will look to strengthen in the summer transfer window.
The fallen Premier League champions face a struggle to qualify for next season's Champions League, with Klopp's side four points behind fourth-placed Chelsea heading into the final five rounds of fixtures.
Whether the Reds return to Europe's top table next term could have a significant bearing on who they are able to sign this summer.
But club legend John Aldridge has urged the club's owners FSG to try and make amends for their part in the European Super League debacle by spending big ahead of next season.
Here is the latest transfer news on Liverpool.
FSG must fund Haaland move to ease Super League anger
Liverpool legend John Aldridge hopes the anger caused by last week's Super League fiasco can spur the club's owners to fund a big-money for Erling Haaland.
Aldridge says Saturday's 1-1 draw with Newcastle highlighted the Reds' deficiencies in front of goal, and urged Fenway Sports Group to act.
“I have said before that Firmino is no longer producing the goods to justify his place in the team“, Aldridge wrote in his column for Sunday World.
“If ever a game highlighted Liverpool’s desperation to sign a top-quality goalscorer, we saw it yesterday.
“Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland would be the player I would go after this summer, but we don’t know whether Liverpool could get close to paying for that transfer unless they sell Salah or one of their other big stars.
“ Maybe the upset caused by Liverpool’s decision to sign up for the horrible European Super League will inspire the owners to spend a bit of money this summer to breathe new life into this team, because that’s what is needed.“
Reds weigh up move for Barca star
Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum looks set to join Barcelona this summer - but one of the Catalan club's players could be headed in the opposite direction.
That's because the Reds are weighing up a move for centre-back Samuel Umtiti, according to The Boot Room.
The 27-year-old has slipped down the pecking order under Ronald Koeman, and Mundo Deportivo reports Barca could cash in as they look to land long-time target Eric Garcia from Manchester City.
And the World Cup-winning France international could be a handy addition if Klopp decides to strengthen his defence following the injury problems which derailed Liverpool's title defence this season.
Liverpool told price tag for Wijnaldum 'upgrade'
Liverpool could land Yves Bissouma for £40million in the summer transfer window.
The Brighton midfielder has been linked with Arsenal and Manchester United as well as Liverpool, following his impressive performances for Graham Potter's side this season.
With Wijnaldum set to leave Anfield, Klopp is expected to strengthen the Reds' engine room - and Potter has acknowledged that Brighton won't stand in Bissouma's way if a big club comes in for him.
According to WhoScored, the Mali international would be an upgrade on Wijnaldum - for £8m less than Liverpool paid for Naby Keita.
Bissouma has averaged more shots per game than Wijnaldum this season (1.2 to 0.8), more dribbles (1.5 to 0.9) and the same amount of key passes.
The stats also appear to show he has performed better defensively, racking up more tackles, interceptions and clearances than Netherlands midfielder Wijnaldum.

Broke club on the road of winning two trophies this year, that sounds like football right?? Liverpool literally needs another 30 yrs to win anything cuz Klopp, is dead, Mane is expired and Sala rusted.

Jota is classic We have to accept that Liverpool are completely out of form and without VVD they're conceding against even weak teams too . They should wait until next season..... this season is over.... Once they will re-establish their squad with some returns Put Jota, Mane and Salah ahead Liverpool will be back soon
